GRADUATE VISA

This route is for  Students in the UK who want to work, or look for work, following the successful completion of an eligible course of study at UK bachelor’s degree-level or above. The study must have been with a higher education provider with a track record of compliance.

The Graduate route is an unsponsored route.

Individuals who already have permission as dependants of a Student who is applying under the gadute route can also apply to extend their permission as  dependants; other types of dependants are not permitted,  except where a dependent child is born in the UK during a period of Student or Graduate leave.

The successful applicants on the Graduate Visa Route are permitted to look for work. They can undertake roles at any skill level and do not need to satisfy any minimum salary requirement.

Successful applicants will also be able to switch jobs.

The grant of leave will be based on the qualification the applicant relies on:

  • 3 years for PhD or other doctoral level qualification

  • 2 years for all other degree qualifications

It is not possible to extend permission to stay on the Graduate Immigration Route.

The Graduate Visa does not lead directly to settlement or indefinite leave to remain, but, once on the Graduate Immigration Route the successful applicant will be able to extend their stay by switching into other work-based routes, such as the Skilled Worker route, the Global Talent route and the Innovator route, all of which can lead to settlement provided the applicants  satisfy the requirements of the route chosen.
